THE ASSIGNMENT

SICOis nationally responsible for legal proceedings concerning international crimes such as genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, acts of terror and other serious crimes committed abroad.

Other serious crimes that fall under our field of responsibility are homicide, torture, deprivation of liberty, rape, bombing and arson.

Our assignment is described in Ministerial Order no.1146/2002.

The purpose of establishing this office was to ensure that Denmark does not provide a safe haven for perpetrators of crimes such as the above. Perpetrators will be investigated - and if possible - indicted in cases with  sufficient evidence.

SICO only handles cases where the suspect is a resident of Denmark.
